Democracy and evolution

Democracy is not about the selection of some good people to rule us; it is all about our ability to say no to people whom we don't want. In this respect elections are a lot like evolution. Evolution works, not by creating strong and uncorrupted individuals, it works by eliminating organisms not suitable for a specific environment. And like evolution, democracy is a messy and slow process. But in the long run both produces good results.

I am not a big fan of a political systems where the ruled do not have an option to eliminate the ruler. So I neither like the Communist party in China, nor Mr. Anna Hazare in India.

Context: "The recent State elections in India resulted in the replacing of ruling parties in three states."
